Now is a great time to ride your bike down Lochner Road in south Albany, as I discovered Saturday. The reason is no cars.
With the summer sun low in the west, I took a bike ride Thursday night to take another look at the fast-disappearing farmland on Albany’s south side.
The march for more housing continues in Albany as the planning commission has just approved a proposal for 113 lots on former farmland at the south end of town. It also recommended a zone change to allow apartments on a residential lot on Waverly Drive.
Many new houses on the south end of town will be the eventual result after the city of Albany annexes about 35 acres east of Lochner Road.
