It was in the spring two years ago that an old broken Allis Chalmers tractor caught my eye on the south side of Ellingson Road opposite Lochner Road, at the south end of Albany.

‘Middle housing’ project sprouts new sign

There’s a new sign by the side of Gibson Hill Road in North Albany. It signals that a planned 80-lot “middle housing” project is ready to go ahead and that its ownership has changed.

Lochner Road still closed for subdivision work

The south end of Lochner Road was supposed to be open again by mid-April, but it remained closed because of construction at the beginning of May.

As expected, a new subdivision off Ellingson

This July the Albany City Council annexed 20 acres of farmland and a mobile home at Lochner and Ellingson Roads. Now, as expected, a nationwide homebuilding company has filed a tentative subdivision plat for 101 houses on the land.

In case you have forgotten, an Albany city committee is still struggling with how to make housing cost less. Meanwhile, builders are going ahead just like they always have — building houses they think they can sell.
