An aimless bike ride through old Albany took me past the corner of Montgomery and Fourth, where the historic Goltra House attracted my attention because it has been beautifully restored.

Just sayin’: Looks fine without the chimneys

In November 2019, the Albany Landmarks Commission approved contractor Joel Dahl’s restoration of the historic Goltra House at Montgomery Street and Fourth Avenue, but members were interested in preserving a future possibility of recreating the appearance of two elaborate brick chimneys sticking out above the roof.

Contractor Joel Dahl got support Wednesday from the Albany Landmarks Commission for his restoration of the historic Goltra House at 331 Montgomery St. S.E.
