Time to check in on the Cumberland Project, the private effort to turn the former church into a community center for Albany, especially the east Willamette neighborhood.
Pretty soon now the former Cumberland church is going to settle down on its new concrete foundation, another milestone in the private campaign to turn the historic building into a community center on the east side of old Albany.
Having gotten rid of the old Cumberland Church by giving it to a nonprofit that paid to get it moved away, the city of Albany now has to deal with the hole that was left behind.
All the t’s seem to have been crossed and the i’s dotted now, so the move of the former Cumberland Church in Albany is set for Sunday, Oct. 17.
