Every once in a while a bike ride takes me past the corner of Main Street and Santiam Road in Albany to check on progress there, the former site of the historic Cumberland church.
That big hole in the ground you see at the corner of Santiam Road and Main Street in Albany will become a swale to retain storm water when the warehouse in the background is rebuilt, with parking on the lot in front.
The former site of the historic Cumberland Church in Albany will go to Baldwin General Contracting, which owns the property next door.
Having gotten rid of the old Cumberland Church by giving it to a nonprofit that paid to get it moved away, the city of Albany now has to deal with the hole that was left behind.
The changing face of an Albany corner
The corner of Santiam Road and Main Street in Albany continues to undergo a gradual transformation. I can’t help but notice the changes as I pass this corner occasionally on the bike.
