How’s our water supply holding up?

The apparent low flow in the Albany-Santiam Canal made me wonder how our water supply was holding up this summer, which has been drier than usual and exceptionally warm. The word from the city of Albany is that we’re in pretty good shape but should conserve water when we can.

Nobody is making a big deal of the 100th anniversary of the construction of the Albany railroad bridge across the Willamette River. That’s fitting, because when it was accomplished in 1921, the job made no splash in the papers of the time.


New pickleball courts: Finished and open

Two years after the Albany City Council approved their construction, new pickleball courts at Linn-Benton Community College are ready for play. While the college still has a sign saying the campus is closed to public use, City Manager Peter Troedsson says the courts are open.
