Population update: Fodder for a story

Written November 25th, 2020 by Hasso Hering

The people at Portland State University came out with their annual population estimates the other day.  If the report conceals startling news about Albany and other mid-valley towns, I don’t see it. But the new numbers provide fodder for a story nevertheless.

First the corona, and then an election

As if the coronavirus panic was not bad enough, there’s an election right around the corner. But nobody around here has paid it much attention so far.

Open all the way: Hwy. 34 bikeway

Written November 12th, 2015 by Hasso Hering

Written October 28th, 2015 by Hasso Hering

Two bike routes: Where we stand

Written January 31st, 2015 by Hasso Hering

The Albany City Council has confirmed its support for an Albany-Corvallis Bike Trail, though not necessarily along the alignment that has run into strong opposition from farmers, the Oregon Farm Bureau and the state Department of Agriculture. Written January 5th, 2015 by Hasso Hering

Every time it comes up, local leaders say they’d like the public to gain access to Bowers Rock State Park. But nothing ever happens along those lines.
