Speed cameras: Looking at law change

In all  the dialogue about Albany’s coming red-light and speed cameras, nobody mentioned House Bill 2095, passed by the Oregon legislature last spring. The new law, requested by the League of Oregon Cities, took effect Jan. 1 and expands the allowed use of photo radar.

Population update: Fodder for a story

The people at Portland State University came out with their annual population estimates the other day.  If the report conceals startling news about Albany and other mid-valley towns, I don’t see it. But the new numbers provide fodder for a story nevertheless.

Pot ordinance up for council vote

On Wednesday the Albany City Council will vote to ban the production, processing, and wholesale and retail selling of recreational marijuana within the city limits.
