Take a last look at the long-neglected tennis courts at Linn-Benton Community College. The four courts are about to be demolished and rebuilt as 12 courts for pickleball.
A month ago I happened to notice the weeds on the tennis courts at Linn-Benton Community College and groused about the courts’ deteriorated condition. The college maintenance department said at the time it was about to do something about the weeds. And sure enough, when I took another look this week, the old weeds were gone.

Revisiting memories of tennis long ago
It was probably 30 or 40 years ago that I last had occasion to hit a tennis ball on the courts behind North Albany Middle School. Wondering whether the courts still exist, I stopped at the school on a bike ride and found that the courts are still there.
