Hwy. 20: One danger still ignored

Written November 5th, 2016 by Hasso Hering

ODOT has announced more than $8 million in projects to improve safety on the Albany-Corvallis Highway, mostly on the Corvallis end. But the hazards at the junction of Highway 20 with Independence Highway remain unaddressed and unresolved.

Another time change — aaaargh!

Written November 3rd, 2016 by Hasso Hering

Riverside bike route: Not so fast

Written August 2nd, 2016 by Hasso Hering

Does it count as distracted driving if you lift your eyes from the highway to read the overhead sign with an implied warning against distracted driving? Or how about driving through a long work zone on I-5 while snapping photos to illustrate a story about ODOT’s latest safety campaign?

OReGO update: How about bikes?

Written March 17th, 2016 by Hasso Hering

Let’s check in on OReGO, which seems to be flying under the radar of public interest and perhaps awareness. Maybe people would be more interested if I raised the possibility that Oregon’s pioneering approach to road taxation might some day work to get a little extra revenue from bicyclists as well.

How to fix Albany-Corvallis Highway

Next time ODOT invites the public to a meeting on the hazards of the Albany-Corvallis Highway, it might want to book a bigger room.
