Remember the Albany-Corvallis bikeway that then Commissioner Linda Modrell of Benton County proposed in about 2004? Benton County and the state are still working on it, but its eventual completion looks very much in doubt.

It has been 18 years since Benton County Commissioner Linda Modrell started talking about a bikeway linking Albany and Corvallis. Now, two isolated segments are actually being built, but where and when they’ll connect is anybody’s guess.

That’s the kind of cockeyed photo of a highway feature you get when you try to photograph it at 45 miles an hour, holding a little camcorder out the sunroof without being able to see the viewfinder.

ODOT adds cameras at key Albany junction

One of these days, and probably soon, drivers will be able to check before they start out if there’s congestion on Highway 20 at the junction with Spring Hill Drive in North Albany.

Highway 20 project worries Midway Farms

Improvements now getting started to prevent collisions on the Albany-Corvallis Highway may eventually help drivers, but they are creating headaches for the owner of Midway Farms, the small organic grocery and farm store on the highway near the junction with Independence Highway.

Hwy. 20 plans include pieces of bikeway

This week ODOT plans to start construction of safety improvements along the Albany-Corvallis Highway, and when I looked at the plans, I was surprised to learn that despite appearances to the contrary, the long-delayed Albany-Corvallis bikeway is not completely dead.
