Weeds are sprouting, as weeds will, in the center island of Albany’s Main Street roundabout, where a planned landscaping treatment is taking longer than expected. But let’s be patient; it should be done this summer.
This may be the year someone rescues the old church at Albany’s Main Street and Santiam Road before it falls down. Two parties have submitted proposals to acquire the city-owned property at 401 S.E. Main and do something with it, and the city staff is analyzing the offers.
Cumberland church: Bigger costs on horizon
It’s been more than a year since the Albany City Council voted to try to get rid of the former Cumberland Presbyterian Church it owns at Main Street and Santiam Road. Volunteers have been working on saving the building, and now the council faces a decision on whether to spend money on major repairs.
