Albany’s officially sanctioned homeless encampment has been open since July 1, and the city council Monday received a report on the place.
Conditions on Albany’s trails range from nice and picked up to messy, as my bike rides along the Dave Clark Path and the Periwinkle Bikepath showed this past week.
Albany’s officially designated homeless camp, Marvin’s Garden, has at least three deficiencies that should be fixed, the city council learned Wednesday. Members listened to the report but made no move to act on it.
Albany’s designated camp site for homeless people at Ninth Avenue and Jackson Street now has a name: “Marvin’s Garden.”
Preparations continued this week on two city-owned lots Albany officials have designated as places where homeless people can stay when they’re barred from sleeping on other public land.
Keeping track of Hub City Village
Every once in a while, bike rides around Albany take me past 241 Waverly Drive S.E., where the Creating Housing Coalition is building 27 “tiny houses” in a compound it calls Hub City Village.
