Preparations continued this week on two city-owned lots Albany officials have designated as places where homeless people can stay when they’re barred from sleeping on other public land.

Homeless people camping in their cars on Ninth Avenue between Jackson Street and Pacific Boulevard in Albany can still do so, but not for much longer. The neighbors and the city council want them gone.


When a tree gets too big and destructive

Everybody loves the big old shade trees on Albany streets in the summer. Their downside is that their roots sometimes crack the pavement below, and then somebody decides they have to go.
