Somebody had told me about a warning written in chalk on the walk at Albany’s Eads Park. On a bike ride Tuesday evening I saw that it was still there.
That’s a swell-looking new pathway along the Willamette River between Bowman and Eads parks in Albany. Only trouble: The thick layer of wood chips means you can’t ride a bike there.
Preparing the site for the construction of The Banks apartment complex on Albany’s riverfront produced what may have been a surprise to the builders: They uncovered the opening of an underground void or tunnel.

What’s up with that sign at Eads Park
A routine sign posted by the Albany planning division prompted a flurry of comments last week on social media, ranging from the need for housing to complaints about too much growth. That’s not, though, what this is about.
