As expected, the Albany City Council will once again be asked to decide what happens on the corner lot of Fourth and Calapooia where it authorized the demolition of three historic but dilapidated houses last year.
Albany architect Bill Ryals has provided a set of drawings (below) to illustrate what Calapoooia Court, a proposed development at the edge of the city’s Monteith Historic District, would look like.
As far as the Albany City Council was concerned, demolition could start any time now on three decrepit old houses at Fourth Avenue and Calapooia Street. But an appeal against the council’s decision is pending, and the Land Use Board of Appeal this week stayed the city’s demolition permits.
The request for permission to demolish three old houses at Fourth and Calapooia, a contentious issue, will come up for a public hearing before the Albany City Council on Oct. 10.
