On the day after New Year’s, there was nothing sensational to see on my first bike ride of 2026 into Albany’s Willamette Neighborhood. But a building site caught my eye.

If you’re like me, you look forward to the day when the property at this Albany street corner will drop out of the local news. But that day is some time off.
Former store building gets a makeover
The building that for many years housed a prominent lighting and electric business in southwest Albany is undergoing a major reconstruction.
