Governor signs bill on ‘Idaho Stop’

It took a while for the legislative database to catch up, but today it showed that the governor signed a law change affecting bicyclists at stop signs in Albany and elsewhere in Oregon. The change takes effect this coming Jan. 1.


Groundwater pumping worries neighbor

Temporary wells are pumping water out of the ground at a street construction site near Albany’s Draperville neighborhood, and at least one resident there is worried this may lower the water table so her own well will no longer work. The city engineer says the risk of that happening is “very low.”


‘Spruce’ apartments clear Landmarks review

Airport display: Now it’s accomplished

A year before he died, Dick Ebbert had a cool idea: Get three old warplanes of the type he had flown as a Marine fighter pilot and put them on display at the historic Albany Municipal Airport. Volunteers worked on the project for a decade, and now it’s been carried out.

Quick sale: Historic home gets new owner

Somebody is buying the historic house at 732 Fourth Ave. S.W., which sat vacant for years and became the subject of a city of Albany enforcement action in 2017 to clean up the overgrown yard.
