Jim Ketter’s request to get rid of the barbed wire along the Albany-Santiam Canal in the Monteith Historic District, and maybe even lower the fences, has gotten nowhere so far.

This was the Cox Creek Path railroad underpass on Thursday afternoon, and as you can see, the walls have once again been repainted to look clean. This spot on the Albany park system is tagged so often that I think it would be a promising candidate for camera surveillance.

Big Dig enters its final phase

A downtown bank branch will close

Rumors that Wells Fargo was about to close its downtown Albany branch had been circulating for weeks before the bank confirmed them Monday. The downtown urban renewal board will hold a closed-to-the-public meeting Wednesday to consider real estate transactions, and the idea of buying the building for its parking may well come up.
