Three years ago I got a look at a piece of wooded city-owned land in North Albany that included a meadow running down to a pond. The city is planning to sell the property, and the owner of a neighboring property has offered to buy and preserve it as a kind of private nature reserve.


Fuel for Albany: Two gas stations planned

Does the coming of electric cars make more gas stations unnecessary? Developers don’t seem to think so. Two new gas stations are being planned in Albany, one in the northeast and the other in the south of town.


Neighbors hope to save park — by buying it

Families living behind Albany’s Hazelwood Park, which the council has offered for sale, hope to save the wooded parcel by buying it and making it part of their yards.


And back to the clocks at Albany Station

If they gave up on the clocks in the tower at Albany Station, would you blame them? Once again, the four clocks exhibited great diversity on Monday, and none of them was even close to the time of day.


A vehicle-charging station for downtown

If you have an electric car, pretty soon you’ll be able to park it in downtown Albany and charge the batteries — unless somebody else has had the same idea and got there first. In which case you’d have to wait your turn.


Albany swimming holes? Not hard to find

When the Alsea Highway will be closed

If you plan on taking Highway 34 to the central Oregon coast later this month — whether to visit the scene in the photo above or somewhere else — you might be interested in ODOT’s plan to close a bridge for repairs over one whole weekend.
