Returning to Albany after a few days away, I wondered how far the city’s contractor had gotten with the Water Avenue “plaza street,” the last key element of the Albany Revitalization Agency’s $21.5 million Waterfront Project.

When Water Avenue work will resume

This is the year the west end of Albany’s Water Avenue will get an overhaul, and I was wondering when this work will resume, and why it didn’t start during January when it was sunny and dry.

New riverfront plantings have struggled

Last winter and spring, a landscape contractor for the Albany Waterfront Project planted a ton of shrubs along the Dave Clark Riverfront Path. Some of that work may have to be redone.

Boardwalk is open, but why is it there?

On Saturday I was glad to see that the little boardwalk at the bottom of Albany’s new Monteith Riverpark had been opened so people could use it on their way down toward the river.

Park tree removal comes up before council

Demolition meeting ends on a sour note

Monday’s meeting of the Albany Revitalization Agency was called to award a demolition contract for the former Wells Fargo branch downtown. It ended on a sour note when the chair, Councilwoman Bessie Johnson, formally accused member Dick Olsen of violating the secrecy of an executive session.
