That big old black walnut tree at the back of a vacant lot in Albany is destined to be cut down, but on Nov. 10 it was still there, so I thought I’d take another photo or two.

Trash disposal price hike sails through council

A couple of members grumbled a little, but in the end the Albany City Council unanimously approved Republic Services’ price hike of 5.9 percent for trash collection and disposal in 2022.

No controversy: Two developments get city’s OK

In what was pretty much a formality, the Albany Planning Commission has approved a 22-unit apartment complex on Southeast Salem Avenue and a 23-lot subdivision on Northwest Gibson Hill Road.

Inflation: Trash disposal going up as well

Inflation is showing up in different places, and next year it will hit your bills for trash collection in Albany. Republic Services will increase its prices just under 6 percent starting Jan. 1, the company has told the city council.

Last month Benton County had a lot of Douglas firs removed from the natural area at the corner of Crocker Lane and Valley View Drive in North Albany. So let’s do a quick check and see what the place looks like now.
