Where Albany plans for lots of growth

Every once in a while the bike takes me to the part of Albany east of Interstate 5. It did so on Wednesday, which gave me a chance to take another look at the new Eagle Pointe apartment complex south of the roundabout on Knox Butte Road.

Zoning for climate: A questionable quest

Albany and other Oregon towns above 50,000 are preparing to comply with a state order to designate “climate friendly areas.” All I can say is good luck.

That big old black walnut tree at the back of a vacant lot in Albany is destined to be cut down, but on Nov. 10 it was still there, so I thought I’d take another photo or two.

There exists, you may be astonished to learn, a regional transportation plan for the “Albany metropolitan area.” And among many other things on its hundreds of pages, it rates existing “bicycle facilities” by their “levels of stress” or LTS.
