Without a drone’s eye view, it’s hard to see how the contractors are coming along with rebuilding Albany’s Monteith Riverpark. To get a glimpse of the work in progress, you have to climb along the bank on the outside of the chain link fence on the park’s Calapooia River side.
The boardwalk overlooking the Willamette River under the Ellsworth Street Bridge in Albany will remain unchanged by the city’s riverfront improvement plan, I learned today.
On Friday’s bike ride I stopped for a minute on the riverfront boardwalk below the Ellsworth Street Bridge.
Thirty-five years ago, Albany volunteers using mostly donated materials built the roof over the stage in Monteith Riverpark. On Thursday the roof was gone, demolished as part of the park renovation and the city’s Waterfront Project.
Sunday was another cold day in February. I took one more bike ride to Albany’s Monteith Riverpark, where on Saturday more trees were cut down.
Tree cutting began Thursday along Albany’s Willamette Riverfront to prepare for the city’s “Waterfront Project.” Posted signs said the operation would go through Feb. 28.
Monteith update: Stage steel lifted into place
On Saturday the steel roof supports of the new stage in Albany’s Monteith Riverpark were still sitting on the ground. Today they had been lifted into place.
