So what’s happening on Albany’s much anticipated riverfront redevelopment project this year? Nothing, that’s what. And the city puts part of the blame for the delay on Putin’s war against Ukraine.
Albany plans to borrow up to $16.9 million to pay for the city’s urban renewal project to redevelop Monteith Riverpark and parts of 14 blocks of Water Avenue along the Willamette River.
Plans for Albany’s riverfront call for improving crossings on the Water Avenue rail line, opening new ones and closing others. But the new or improved crossings won’t have to be protected with automatic arms.
On my riverfront beat: That leak is back
Last year it looked as though they had fixed this apparent leak in a water main along Water Avenue in Albany. If they did, the fix didn’t last.
