When the remodeling of the former Spruce Apartments at 222 First Ave. S.E. is finished, they will be named the Opera House Apartments, and a plaque on the building will tell the story of this site in Albany history.
Albany city officials want more building and business downtown. To that end they’re launching a review of the city development code, hoping to get rid of regulations that needlessly stymie developers and builders.
‘Spruce’ apartments clear Landmarks review
The continuing renovation of the “Spruce Apartments” in downtown Albany has cleared a procedural hurdle with the approval by the city’s Landmarks Advisory Commission.
