No controversy: Two developments get city’s OK

Written November 9th, 2021 by Hasso Hering

In what was pretty much a formality, the Albany Planning Commission has approved a 22-unit apartment complex on Southeast Salem Avenue and a 23-lot subdivision on Northwest Gibson Hill Road.

Proposed on Salem Ave.: An industrial building

Written October 31st, 2021 by Hasso Hering

The lot you see above with a for-sale sign is at 3055 Salem Ave. S.E.. It’s on one of my bike routes through Albany, and it’s been vacant for as long as I can remember. But it may not stay vacant long.

Written January 29th, 2018 by Hasso Hering

The lady behind the ‘blessing box’

Written August 11th, 2016 by Hasso Hering

Facebook followers of the Albany Happenings page have probably seen a picture of the “blessing box.” On a bike ride Wednesday, I noticed the actual thing on Salem Avenue S.E. I stopped, knocked on a couple of doors and got to meet its originator, Christine Rayburn.
