Three years ago the city of Albany condemned a manufactured house on Pine Street as a “derelict structure.” Now a prospective new owner hopes to turn the place into somebody’s home once again.
Wandering around old Albany on the bike without any goal in mind, I sometimes find myself in places that are so out of the way I have never paid them any attention before.
So what’s new with the dwelling at 329 Pine St. S.E., which the City of Albany posted as a “derelict structure” two summers ago? That’s what I was wondering when I passed the place on a bike ride on June 28.
Sometimes you wonder why something is there. Take, for example, these concrete blocks at the extreme eastern end of Water Avenue in Albany.
If it was up to me, they’d put a historical marker on the rusted railroad track that runs from the Albany yard past Crabtree Automotive and ends in the bushes before it gets to Hill Street.
The section of Queen Avenue from Pacific Boulevard to Ferry Street, and across four railroad tracks, will likely remain closed through November.
Enough already with that roundabout
If you’re reading this, you may be spending way too much time on this “mini roundabout” that a contractor for the city of Albany is building on Salem Avenue at Waverly Drive.
