That old RR track: Where it once led

If it was up to me, they’d put a historical marker on the rusted railroad track that runs from the Albany yard past Crabtree Automotive and ends in the bushes before it gets to Hill Street.

The Albany City Council is getting ready to sell a one-acre lot off the Water Avenue railroad track, a parcel the city managed to get for nothing in 2013.

Next on Hill Street, about 90 new trees

Before they rebuilt 10 blocks of Hill Street in South Albany this summer, all the street trees were cut down. Now the trees are about to be replaced.


On Hill Street, no more bumpy rides

After being torn up for a complete reconstruction, 10 bocks of Hill Street in South Albany now have been repaved and restriped and will reopen to through traffic soon.

Rebuilding Sunrise and two streets

Sunrise Park and sections of two major streets — Hill and Oak — are about to be rebuilt, totaling more than $3 million in city public works spending in South Albany this year.


Rebuilding of Hill Street coming up

On Facebook and in real life, people in South Albany have been clamoring for the city to fix up the rough pavement on Hill Street, or wondering when this would finally be done. The answer is pretty soon, namely this year and probably next.
