Homeless people parking their vehicles outside the Helping Hands shelter on Ninth Avenue, or camping there, would no longer be allowed to do so under a proposal the Albany City Council will consider on Monday.


Council nixes ban on feeding wildlife

Turkeys or no turkeys, a proposed ordinance making it illegal to feed wildlife in the city of Albany is not going to become law. But a ban on parking without a permit on sections of five streets near the Signs of Victory homeless shelter probably will, at least for a while.


Council gets request for parking ban

In order to control “unlawful activity,” Albany’s code enforcement official is asking the city council to ban parking without a permit on 11th Avenue near the Signs of Victory homeless shelter and on four other nearby streets.
