Many North Albany commuters have learned to dodge the cracks and rough spots in the pavement on Gibson Hill Road, which is good because they’ll have to do so for at least another year.
There is a reason why the new traffic signals at Crocker Lane and Gibson Hill Road in North Albany aren’t working even though the installation looks finished. And you won’t be surprised that the blame, like for everything else, falls on Covid-19.
“Have you been out Palestine Road lately?” Brenda Stevens Herbst asked on Facebook Wednesday. “Logging like crazy. Wonder what’s going on.” I went to take a look on Thursday afternoon, and the photo shows the result.
On Sept. 25 a reader wondered when the street construction on Crocker Lane in North Albany would be finished. It took me a week to remember to ask Albany Public Works, but today I finally did.
If you thought that a North Albany rezoning request would fade away in the face of strong neighborhood opposition, forget it. At least it hasn’t yet.
A plan to build a big roundabout at Gibson Hill Road and Crocker Lane in North Albany has lost a supporter on the city council, and a majority now would like to see a less expensive solution.
Offer for city land in N.A.: Save it as is
Three years ago I got a look at a piece of wooded city-owned land in North Albany that included a meadow running down to a pond. The city is planning to sell the property, and the owner of a neighboring property has offered to buy and preserve it as a kind of private nature reserve.
