From the Department of Thinking Up Problems That No One Has Raised: When is somebody going to do something about those piers that mess up Albany’s Monteith Riverpark? Probably never, but that doesn’t mean we can’t think about it.

Lighting the Dave Clark Path: A tryout

Albany’s Dave Clark Path will be much brighter at night — and presumably safer — once the city goes ahead with its plan to install new lights along the riverside trail and in Monteith Riverpark. How much brighter? Well, take a look at the video taken during a demonstration Thursday night of just how the fixtures would work.

On stage, but no applause

These teenagers were hanging out on the stage in Albany’s Monteith Riverpark the other day. They weren’t doing any harm, as far as I could see while having a snack at one of the picnic tables nearby. Still, I’m not sure this stage is the best place for skateboarding or jumping up and down.

It’s my hope — forlorn though it may be — that some day a little floating bridge across the Calapooia River might once again link Albany’s Bryant and Monteith River parks. If you were around the mid-valley in the 1990s, you might remember that bridge, put in by Dave Clark, then the parks director in Albany. […]
