A construction fence blocking a Water Avenue parking lot drew my attention as I rode past on my bike. So I stopped to see what was up.

From the fourth floor of the old St. Francis Hotel, you have a fine view of downtown Albany and beyond. You could see even farther from the roof.

Old house fix-up OK’d, barely

The owners of a rattletrap old house in Albany’s Monteith Historic District have won approval to renovate the place, but it was a close call that threatened to get hung up on the material in new windows.
