On a bike ride Tuesday I had a chance to check in on the ambitious project to restore and enlarge what is said to be the oldest surviving wood-framed commercial building in downtown Albany.

Old look restored to historic building

A piece of Albany’s architectural history has been revived with the renovation of the building at 401 Second Ave. S.W., on the northwest corner of Second and Ferry Street.

If the owners follow through on their plans, the building believed to be the oldest wood-framed commercial structure still standing in downtown Albany will get a new look. An old look, that is.

On the riverfront: Treatment for opioid addicts

Based on a notation on a remodeling permit, I reported in April that an “outpatient addiction treatment facility” was going into the historic Avery Mill Building on the Albany riverfront. Today I found out a little more.
