The Albany Community Development Department has approved the site plan for a 54-unit apartment project on the south side of Creel Avenue, a residential street one block south of the Walmart Supercenter.

Piecing together a special Albany playground

Exactly a year ago, the Albany City Council approved the purchase of a special kind of playground for installation at Lehigh Park. Now the city’s park maintenance crew is bolting the pieces together.

Land division for 80 townhomes approved

The City of Albany’s Community Development Department today approved a tentative land division for 80 townhomes in North Albany. The 7.4-acre site was originally planned for 22 single-family houses.

Return to Sunrise Park, a four-minute tour

Over the last three years I’ve made a few visits to Albany’s Sunrise Park while the place was being rebuilt to better serve the neighborhood. Last week, on my way somewhere else, I stopped by again and was impressed by what it has become.

‘Affordable housing’ — Not on this lot

A surplus city-owned lot at 370 Burkhart Street was considered for developing “affordable housing” in Albany. But the idea foundered on the likely cost of clearing the property of a decommissioned water reservoir.
