Last week I posted a brief video report that damage done to Albany’s two Willamette River viewing piers had been repaired. Now we know how much the vandalism cost.
The first of this month I pointed out a gap in Albany’s Dave Clark Riverfront Path, where the metal cap of an expansion joint had gone missing. Turns out that replacing the cap or cover is not cheap.
Quite a bit of damage has been done at Albany’s Monteith Riverpark since it was reopened in July after more than a year of reconstruction. The city has deployed its camera trailer at the park to try to prevent any more.
On Facebook, Albany police reported new vandalism at Monteith Riverpark last week. On a bike ride, I went by there on Sunday to take a look.
Big important news happens elsewhere, but on Albany’s Dave Clark Riverfront Path there are little things to notice and to see.
It didn’t take long for some moron to damage the new Willamette River overlook on the Albany riverfront.

Let’s take a quick little tour of what might qualify as ground zero of Albany vandalism. Not many people go there, which is probably why it often looks the way it did on Thursday afternoon.
