Odd little things I see from the bike strike me as noteworthy sometimes. One of them is the fence around the construction site of the Hazelwood electric substation in southwest Albany.
The day after our Saturday midnight ice storm, I’m riding the bike through a cold Albany drizzle while waiting for the power to come back on at home. And I’m thinking about what if any conclusions can be drawn.
To get away from never-ending post-election news, I made a point of going down Southwest 17th Avenue on Sunday to see how they were coming on expanding the Hazelwood Substation of Pacific Power. Turns out that the project is well under way.
As you can see, Pacific Power is getting ready to start expanding the Hazelwood Substation in southwest Albany, a project intended to improve electric service in the Albany and Corvallis areas.
This is a story about a citizen noticing a problem, calling it to public attention, and thus launching a process that ended up getting the problem fixed.
The outcome wasn’t in doubt, so it was no surprise this afternoon when the Hearings Board of the Albany Planning Commission unanimously approved the expansion of Pacific Power’s Hazelwood substation.
