Careless drivers and their potential victims will likely get some help in avoiding crashes on the notorious Highway 34 next year, especially between Corvallis and I-5.
OReGO update: Where did miles go?

So how’s it going with OReGO, the state’s volunteer program of charging a mileage fee instead of the gasoline tax to pay for highway programs? It could use more volunteers, for one thing. For another, there may be technical issues to iron out.

Waiting for a friendly flagger to give me the go sign on Gibson Hill in North Albany, I’m not just wasting time and drumming my fingers on the steering wheel. No, I’m thinking about school kids and their parents, and I’m hoping that the million dollars this project is costing will be money well spent.

After a confused start, my part of Oregon’s new road tax system may be on its way after all. We’ll see in a couple of days whether my newly installed mileage reporting device actually reports mileage, as my OReGO account manager assures me it will.
