IP’s Albany Mill: A demolition update

Written May 18th, 2015 by Hasso Hering

Not much is left of the Albany Paper Mill in Millersburg except for an exhaust stack and piles of metallic debris. But the name at the former entrance off Old Salem Road remains, and it’s surrounded by a patch of well tended lawn. It’s as though somebody wants to keep our memory of the mill […]

No end in Millersburg power battle

Written May 12th, 2015 by Hasso Hering

The fight over Millersburg’s proposed forced takeover of Pacific Power’s electric business in town will continue for at least the next several months. Council members Darrin Lane, Jim Lepin and Clayton Wood, the longtime mayor, on Tuesday voted to put the power takeover before the voters.

Pacific Power is expected to use the hearing […]

Pacific scores in M’burg debate

Written March 12th, 2014 by Hasso Hering

Pacific Power seems to have scored a big point in arguing against the proposal that Millersburg expel the utility from the city limits and form a municipal electric utility instead. On Wednesday Pacific publicized a ruling it had obtained from the Bonneville Power Administration, a ruling that makes it unlikely that Wah Chang, the main […]
