On my first excursion to downtown Albany after our January ice storm last week, I could not help but notice the progress on the ambitious project to restore a structure that was built nearly a century and a half ago.

An empty building in Albany’s Downtown Historic District would be restored pretty much to look the way it did a century ago, according to plans submitted to the city’s planning division.
