Sheriff asks to expand permit parking zone

When I rode the bike to the top of the Pacific Boulevard overpass Saturday and looked down on Jackson Street, I saw no sign of trouble with parked cars. But trouble there has been, and the Albany City Council plans to do something about it.

Albany is taking another run at writing a law that allows portable toilets in more places than permitted now but still retains a number of restrictions.

Security is one of the subjects that will need attention as Albany contemplates adding various enhancements to the Dave Clark Path and other public property along the Willamette Riverfront.

The lady behind the ‘blessing box’

Facebook followers of the Albany Happenings page have probably seen a picture of the “blessing box.” On a bike ride Wednesday, I noticed the actual thing on Salem Avenue S.E. I stopped, knocked on a couple of doors and got to meet its originator, Christine Rayburn.
