A better bill: Rear lights on bikes

You can’t look away from the legislature for even a day. If you do, you might miss legislators doing something sensible, as members of a House committee did last week on the matter of bicyclists in traffic being hard to see at night.

Bike bills then and now

Keeping track of bicycle-related bills in the legislature put me in mind of Oregon’s pioneer in bike legislation. I’m talking, of course, of the late Donald L. Stathos, a Republican from Jacksonville who served in the House from 1969 through 1972.
