In a matter of days, construction crews will start tearing up the ground in North Albany where Hayden Homes plans to develop a 147-lot subdivision it calls, apparently without irony, “Pheasant Run.”
On a ride this past Sunday, I stopped to get a shot of this old oak north of Dover Avenue in North Albany. You won’t get this view for much longer, for the tree is set to come down when the Pheasant Run subdivision is built.
All of the North Albany residents who spoke were against it, but the city council Wednesday approved the Pheasant Run subdivision anyway. It didn’t have much choice, given that the planning staff had recommended approval on the grounds the development met all applicable criteria in Albany’s development code. The drive for more housing: Two decisions
The march for more housing continues in Albany as the planning commission has just approved a proposal for 113 lots on former farmland at the south end of town. It also recommended a zone change to allow apartments on a residential lot on Waverly Drive.
