A sunny autumn afternoon makes for a perfect day for checking up on one of Albany’s best trails. So that’s what I did on Halloween —Â take the bike down the Simpson Park Trail and back.
Listening to the calming murmurs of Albany’s Talking Water Gardens on a sunny afternoon, you would not think there could be a problem. But there is, or at least the DEQ thinks it’s a problem.
To get to the Simpson Park Trail, you pass what is advertised as the boater access on First Lake. But the conditions are such that there’s no great rush of boaters at this neglected Albany lake.
