The last story here about the replacement of the Cox Creek Bridge on Goldfish Farm Road said the contractor was shooting to reopen the road to traffic by the end of Sunday, Oct. 5.
Goldfish Farm Road in northeast Albany, closed since April for replacement of the bridge across Cox Creek, should be open again this Friday, Linn County said today.
Now that engineers have been hired, there’s a timeline for getting the aging Waverly Drive bridge on Cox Creek replaced.
On a bike ride Wednesday, I stopped at the bridge across Cox Creek on Waverly Drive. Except that the pavement has become more pitted, little has changed there since the bridge was briefly closed and then restricted to one driving lane in 2005.
The closure of Salem Avenue at Waverly Lake caused congestion and some consternation at the end of the workday Tuesday afternoon. I was glad I was on the bike and not in a car.
You can get to the Talking Water Gardens this week, but you’ll have to park a little farther away.

Expect delays as old bridge is replaced
Going to Simpson Park or Talking Water Gardens may take a little longer starting next week because the work to replace the Waverly Drive bridge over Cox Creek is supposed to start June 15.
