So what’s this bridge work that ODOT is telling us about on message boards at Albany’s two Willamette River crossings? In short, it’s a matter of fixing damaged beams on the Ellsworth Street span.

Cross that bridge and remember a pioneer
To read this plaque, you have to cross this bridge on foot, which I did on Sunday. Having read it, though, you’ll want to call the Jefferson bridge over the Santiam by its proper name henceforth.
