What a treat it was Wednesday to be able to walk around inside the Carnegie Library in downtown Albany, without an appointment or time limit, browsing the shelves, looking for something to read.

Albany’s proposed city budget for the next two years has a bit of encouraging news, as far as I’m concerned. It does NOT call for or require the closing of the Carnegie library downtown.


Carnegie Library looks safe in budget crunch

When and if Albany’s public libraries reopen after the corona crisis, the downtown Carnegie branch stands a good chance of staying in operation despite the city’s budget problems, judging by what candidates in the Nov. 3 council election say.
