On Thursday night I was just going to ride my bike past the season’s first River Rhythms concert and continue down the riverfront. But a sign at the corner stopped me.

Park concerts: Forget tickets and crowd limits

As you have probably heard, the end of Covid restrictions on public gatherings has caused Albany Parks and Recreation to drop its plan to restrict attendance at this summer’s concerts in Monteith Riverpark and charge $5 to get in.

Summer concerts: Getting in takes preparation

Albany’s free summer concerts in Monteith Riverpark were a popular attraction before they were cancelled last year because of Covid. This  summer we’ll see how things go when people have to pay for tickets and then go through an elaborate procedure to get in.
