The Albany City Council went round and round for a couple of hours Monday on the issue of regulating recreational marijuana sites. In the end the ordinance under discussion failed to advance, but the council will try again next month.
If you saw crews like this and thought they were beginning to work on ODOT projects to upgrade Highway 20 through downtown Albany, sorry to disappoint you.
Open for business? Well, not exactly, at least where marijuana is concerned. A day after Albany voters overwhelmingly repealed the city council’s ban on commerce in recreational pot, Mayor Sharon Konopa and the council majority appeared ready Wednesday to impose tight restrictions on where pot stores could open.
Albany has jumped into action to deal with a big puddle of runoff that started overflowing a part of Broadway Street S.W. this fall.
Dressing up downtown streets
Like this section of Second Avenue, Albany’s downtown streets look a little drab, especially in the fading light of a rainy November afternoon. But maybe not for long.
