Back-in parking: Start practicing

Written December 5th, 2016 by Hasso Hering

Albany drivers might want to start practicing how to back into a diagonal parking space on their left without hitting the vehicles on either side. If they plan on parking on the street outside the post office, they’ll need that skill starting some time next year.

Behind the lights: Pot vote upcoming

Festively decorated for Christmas and exuding holiday cheer though it is, the Albany City Hall on Monday will be the site of another likely contentious meeting over recreational pot.

Albany-Corvallis path: Pedaling on?

Written December 2nd, 2016 by Hasso Hering

There’s some doubt whether the long-proposed Albany-Corvallis bike path will ever be built, but Benton County is pedaling on with the idea, so far at least. The next step is a public meeting to hear a report from consultants on phase 1 of their work and “discuss alternative routes.”

Written November 22nd, 2016 by Hasso Hering

Stuck once again in slow-moving traffic on Albany’s main drag, I’m wondering if this is ever going to get any better. The answer is no, it won’t. Not in the foreseeable future anyway. Instead, we’re bound to get delayed more often just like drivers in far bigger towns.

Looking forward to market’s return

Written November 20th, 2016 by Hasso Hering

So we’ll have to wait five months before we can enjoy wandering through the Albany Farmers’ Market once again. Saturday was its last day for 2016, and as the sign said, it won’t reopen until the third Saturday next April.
