So how’s Albany’s new back-in angled parking working out? OK, I guess, but I’m getting a little worried about the new trees the city just paid to have planted.
While we’re at the Albany Post Office, take a look at the novel — for Albany — parking pattern taking shape: Angled spaces on your left into which you will be expected to back up.
Albany drivers might want to start practicing how to back into a diagonal parking space on their left without hitting the vehicles on either side. If they plan on parking on the street outside the post office, they’ll need that skill starting some time next year.
Diagonal parking spaces are coming to one side of three streets around the Albany Post Office, and the city’s urban renewal advisory board decided Wednesday that the new spaces will be of the back-in type.
Don’t hold your breath for angled parking to come to the streets of downtown Albany. As I reported at the time, the idea got a fleeting mention during a meeting of the downtown urban renewal advisory committee on June 9. But that’s about all so far.
A turnaround in angled back-in parking
Well, what do you know. After more than a year, the left-side, back-in, angled parking on Second Avenue in Albany may no longer be an issue
